Dont pay for this app

Rip off

Clunky

Terrible interface, not very eye catching. The fact that you need to pay after one month means I just deleted it and will be using the website. Get some decent interface design and it might just be worth it.

Costly useless app

This app is not yet to state it can be "sold". It it charge heavy as well. Just use the website ...!

Horrible overpriced app

I didnt even reach the end of my 30 day subscription before I found multiple better apps for trains in Japan. The voice system failed numerous times both with English and Japanese pronunciation and voices. Dont bother downloading. Its not worth it

Use the free website instead

You have to buy monthly coupons to use this service. Why would you do this when you can use the same basic service for free on the Hyperdia website.

Works, but not well enough to pay for

This app functions as well as the website, which is a bit more thorough than some other online methods of transportation planning, but not enough to make this service worth paying for, nevermind on a recurring basis.

Dont bother with this app!

I am an English teacher and I travel throughout Osaka to various locations, which means that I need a reliable app. So far 2 of the stations I need to go to... Dont even exist in this app. This app doesnt even tell you what platforms to go to 75% of the time. Google maps does everything (except tell you when you have to change station) and its 100% free. I would give this app half a star from a travelling workers point of view.

No continued free option

There are other good apps for free. No need to pay for this one.

Awesome

This is a must have if you are traveling in Japan. Simple and easy to use. Put in station start, destination and time and it spits out many different options and carriers. Great app.

Best useful train app for foreigners in Japan!

I am currently traveling in Japan. I tried to use Google maps and Apple maps at first but both maps didnt provide enough detailed alternatives for train rides. I have been using this train app to look at all the different trains going from Osaka to Kyoto and vice versa. I get to see and choose from super express Thunderbirds, wide view Hida, Shinkansen, or new express train. For JR pass holders, it is a no brainier to ride a more comfortable and quicker train. This invaluable train app has made my train ride decision so much easier as a foreigner in Japan. 100% recommended.

A necessity for touring Japan

I had great success solo navigating the country when using Hyperdia in conjunction with Google Maps

Easy to Use!

I love this app!

web site is free, why isnt the app?

You can get all the same information on the HyperDia web site, so why would I want to pay a monthly fee to use the app? Most other bus and train apps are free to use.

Deception

In terms of timetables for Japanese rails, just download Jorudan. Its in Japanese, but even someone with no skill at the language can figure out how to work it in 5 minutes. I wanted Hyperdia because it offers a range of several train times at a search, but thats the only leg up it has. Jorudan is labeled as free, IS free and will get you where youre going. This app needs to be relabeled as a trial. Disappointing.

Awesome

Worth every cent especially with the history added into it! I use this app daily and find it easy to use and even nicer since they updated their tables with the blackout schedule! Very nice!!
